The puffin run is held on the first weekend in May each year here in Vestmannaeyjar. It´s the most unique trail run in Iceland.
Vestmannaeyjar is the largest puffin settlement in the world and the timing of the run is based on the puffin settling in the rocks. Part of the route is along a puffin settlement. The race is 20km trail run. The course goes more or less around the island, alongside the coast, with spectacular views over the Atlantic ocean. Mostly it's on wild trails close to the sea, with small parts on asphalt roads with little or no traffic.
