Welcome to Vestmannaeyjar

One of Iceland's

biggest secrets

Visit our MATEY Seafood Festival
this weekend 22nd-23rd of May 2026

Matey Seafood Festival is calling, a true food adventure in Vestmannaeyjar!

Our ferry Herjólfur is sailing from Landeyjahofn and now’s the time to visit the islands of Vestmannaeyjar. This weekend (May 22–23, 2026), the MATEY Seafood Festival brings together Iceland’s top chefs in Vestmannaeyjar for an unforgettable culinary experience.

Three outstanding guest chefs take over the town’s leading restaurants:

  • Hákon Már Örvarsson at GOTT
  • Gústav Axel Gunnlaugsson at Einsi Kaldi
  • Vilhjálmur Sigurðarson at NÆS veitingastaður

Expect the freshest seafood Iceland has to offer including local langoustine (back for the first time in years), monkfish, Laxey local land farmed salmon, and more.

This is not just dinner, it's a full island experience where food, nature, and culture come together.
