In early 2017 the library in the Westman Islands received one of the most extensive collection of rare literature in Iceland
It consists of 1,500 unique books, every edition of the Bible in Icelandic, from The Gudbrand Bible to the latest edition along with a selection of rare and renowned Icelandic literature. This collection of rare literature can be found at the library in the Westman Islands which has a long history, established in 1862.
Along with the collection of rare literature, the museum has books for all age groups, both fiction and nonfiction, in Icelandic and foreign languages. Some of the material can only be used within the library itself but we offer comfortable facilities for our guests.
