Slippurinn is known for its vibrant atmosphere and considered by many one of the most interesting restaurant in Iceland, where quality local ingredients are used creatively to create a unique dining experience. 

Slippurinn (The Ship Yard) is a family run eatery located in a former machine workshop by the harbor of Westman Islands. The eatery offers a beautiful view of Heimaklettur, the island‘s landmark mountain and is only 2 minutes walk from the ferry. 

The highly ambitious kitchen, run by chef Gísli Matthías Auðunsson,  serves the freshest catch from the sea around the island and has outstanding meat dishes as well. The cuisine could be classified as new nordic and aims at making carefully crafted dishes for the casual setting of the eatery. The bar makes its own seasonal cocktails using locally grown ingredients and in general there are at least 20 different Icelandic beers on the menu. 

Since it´s opening in 2012, Slippurinn has become one of the most popular and acclaimed restaurant on the south coast of Iceland. It is open every day from May to September.
